Painless Migraine Treatment

Painless Migraine Treatment

Headache with migraines is usually one-sided, pulsating, amplifying with movement or tension. As a rule, the pain with migraines is localized in the same place, but sometimes it varies from attack to attack and even during one attack.

Another key symptom is nausea and vomiting that do not bring relief. Migraine can also sometimes have visual disturbances, numbness, tingling and weakness of the limbs, inability to speak normally, intolerance to light and noise. They arise before the pain, forming the so-called aura, which foretells an early attack of a headache.

The causes of migraine are not completely determined, predisposing factors can be noted heredity, changes in hormonal status during puberty, frequent stress, overwork, tense mental activity.

There are several forms of drugs that can effectively fight migraine:

1. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and paracetamol. Their effect on migraine is very moderate, it can be slightly strengthened by combination with tramadol or small doses of narcotic analgesics.
2. Antidepressants. Drugs used in psychiatry for the treatment of depression can be prescribed in this case to influence the special substances in the brain (neurotransmitters) involved in the formation of pain and the regulation of vascular tone.
3. Ergotamine and dehydroergotamine – a long-used and effective medicine. It works by narrowing the dilated blood vessels of the brain. As a result, the migraine stops, but this does not prevent the recurrence of the attack. Its preparation in the form of a nasal spray is also available to interrupt the onset of a migraine attack. The drug is very effective.
4. The newest and most effective group of drugs for the treatment of migraine is the so-called Triptans. They act on the exchange of the neurotransmitter serotonin and are suitable for both prevention and interruption of an attack.
